My rating: 4.5 out of 5
(but only because there’s no native Mac version and getting it running on MacOS is pretty nerdy)
I didn’t expect to start this blog with a game…
I can’t remember when I stumbled upon the game Portal, but I distinctly remember getting hooked on it immediately. I would rather not recount the history of the game, its success, and its vast fan base. If you’re not familiar with Portal by now, you should open a new tab and do some research.
To me, the Portal series is one of the best game series of all time. Solving puzzles and escaping rooms from a first-person perspective is both a simple and ingenious idea. And by ‘series,’ I mean two (official) games plus the unofficial fan sequels. The most recent in that series is Portal Revolution.

This game is simply outstanding; it feels like an official part of the series. The events in Portal Revolution take place between Portal and Portal 2 and are filled with humor and cleverness. The puzzles are not too easy, and it introduces some new puzzle features.
It took me about 14 hours to play through it. I neither care nor know whether this is considered good or not, but I enjoyed every second of exploring this new, yet familiar world. I didn’t expect to see a new Portal game since the release of Portal 2 back in 2011.
You can download the game for free on Steam if you own Portal 2.
